Why Does My Car Need an Oil Change?
Most motor oils are made from oils consisting of a paraffinic base. There is less sludge, varnish, and corrosive wear with higher quality paraffinic oils. High engine temperatures and heavy friction will eventually cause the protection additives to wear down. At that point, the oil will start to sludge/glob together. The oil will either force its way out of the engine or cause the engine to seize up. Getting the oil changed regularly keeps the engine clean and operating normally, preventing expensive repairs later.
